Hyundai IONIQ 9 gains new Calligraphy Black Ink trim in Europe

Hyundai has introduced a new Calligraphy Black Ink version of the IONIQ 9, its large three-row electric SUV. Positioned above the existing Calligraphy specification, the new flagship trim focuses on a more exclusive visual identity while retaining the IONIQ 9's established electric platform and core technology. Hyundai Motor Europe announced the new version on August 7, 2026.

What is new on the IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink?

The most obvious changes are cosmetic. Hyundai has added a matte-black front emblem, model-specific 21-inch Calligraphy Black Ink alloy wheels and gloss-black detailing at the rear. The new specification will be offered in two exterior colours: Serenity White Pearl and Abyss Black Pearl. Rather than redesigning the IONIQ 9, Hyundai has used darker details to give its flagship electric SUV a more distinctive appearance.

A darker premium interior

The Black Ink theme continues inside. The cabin features black Nappa leather seats, a black leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminium dashboard trim with a dark finish. It retains the spacious three-row layout that makes the IONIQ 9 particularly relevant to families looking for a large electric SUV rather than a conventional five-seat crossover.

Up to 620 km of WLTP range

The IONIQ 9 uses Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP architecture and a 110.3 kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive version offers up to 620 km of WLTP driving range. Its 800-volt electrical architecture allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 24 minutes under optimal conditions when connected to a suitable DC fast charger delivering up to 350 kW.

Hyundai pushes the IONIQ 9 further into premium territory

The arrival of Calligraphy Black Ink illustrates Hyundai's strategy for developing the IONIQ 9 beyond its role as a practical family EV. Instead of introducing another powertrain, Hyundai is broadening the range with a more distinctive flagship specification, giving customers additional ways to personalise a vehicle competing in the premium electric SUV segment.

European availability and pricing

Hyundai says the IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink will be introduced across European markets according to regional launch schedules. Pricing and exact availability will be announced by individual Hyundai organisations closer to launch. The announcement does not provide a Serbia-specific launch date or price.

For buyers in Serbia, the next point to watch will be whether the Black Ink specification becomes part of the local IONIQ 9 range. With up to 620 km of WLTP range, three-row seating and an 800-volt charging system, the IONIQ 9 is positioned as a long-distance family EV rather than simply another urban electric crossover.
