Audi is a German premium automotive brand headquartered in Ingolstadt. Founded by August Horch in 1909, it is now part of the Volkswagen Group. The four rings in the Audi emblem represent the historic combination of Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer under the former Auto Union.

Audi’s best-known model families across different generations include the A3, A4, A5, A6, A8, Q3, Q5, Q7, and Q8, alongside electric e-tron models. Depending on the model, model year, and market, an Audi may use a TFSI petrol engine, TDI diesel engine, mild-hybrid system, TFSI e plug-in hybrid powertrain, or a fully electric e-tron drivetrain. Certain versions are available with quattro all-wheel drive and S or RS performance variants.

For accurate Audi maintenance information, the exact model, generation, production year, VIN, engine code, and gearbox code must be considered. Approved oil, service intervals, timing-drive design, S tronic or tiptronic transmission requirements, and common issues can differ substantially even between versions of the same model.
