AC Cars — models, engines and maintenance

AC Cars is a British specialist sports-car manufacturer whose origins date to 1901. The marque is especially known for the AC Ace and AC Cobra; during the 1960s, AC Cars manufactured the chassis for the original AC Cobra cars.

Current and recent AC Cars models include the AC GT Roadster, AC GT Coupé, AC GT SuperSport, AC Ace and AC Ace Bristol Classic. The GT Coupé is available with naturally aspirated or supercharged 5.0-litre V8 powertrains, depending on the specification. AC Cars builds low-volume vehicles, so engines, transmissions, brakes and equipment can differ even within the same model series.

For accurate AC Cars maintenance information, the exact model, production series, production year, chassis number or VIN, engine, gearbox, differential, brake system and factory build specification must be considered. Data for the AC Ace, historic AC Cobra cars, modern GT Roadster, GT Coupé and GT SuperSport versions is not interchangeable. Service intervals, approved fluids, timing-drive design, ignition and fuel systems, cooling, gearbox and differential requirements, and replacement parts depend on the individual build. The Cobra name alone is not enough to identify a technical specification: replicas and cars from other manufacturers require their own documentation and use different components.
