Abarth cars — models, engines and maintenance
Abarth is an Italian performance-car brand founded in 1949 by Carlo Abarth and Guido Scagliarini. Its scorpion badge is closely associated with motorsport, tuning and performance-oriented versions of Fiat-based cars. Today, Abarth is part of the Stellantis group.
Well-known modern Abarth models include the 500, 595, 695, Grande Punto, Punto Evo and 124 Spider. The range was later expanded with the fully electric Abarth 500e and Abarth 600e. Depending on the model and generation, Abarth vehicles may use turbocharged petrol engines or an electric powertrain, paired with manual, automated-manual or automatic transmissions.
Correct Abarth maintenance starts with identifying the exact model, generation, production year, VIN, engine code and transmission code. Particular attention should be paid to the correct oil specification, timing-belt service interval on petrol engines, turbocharger condition, clutch, brakes and suspension. Although many Abarth models share platforms and selected components with Fiat vehicles, their engines, brakes, suspension, electronics and service requirements may differ. Factory data should be checked especially carefully for cars with ECU tuning or mechanical modifications. That is why Auto Passport organises its information by model, generation and engine.
